Artist's note:

Listen, pens have ink and so do octopuses and while I recognize that this connection has been somewhat overused, you can’t really have too many objects with this beautiful, fascinating, intelligent creature. This painting was created with many layers in order to achieve the subtle back glow of the octopus through the “water.” Personally, I am quite proud of this painting.
